​8th Annual Greater Charleston Lowcountry Jazz Festival
September 2 - 4, 2016
Jazz superstars Brian Culbertson, Will Downing, and Peabo Bryson will headline the 2016 Greater Charleston Lowcountry Jazz Festival on Labor Day Weekend. The Greater Charleston Lowcountry Jazz Festival, now in its eighth year, draws thousands of jazz fans to the Lowcountry each year. The festival benefits the Closing the Gap in Health Care, Inc. an organization whose mission is to decrease health disparities among the underserved. Other artists for this year’s festival include Nick Colionne, Avery Sunshine, Jazz Funk Soul featuring: Jeff Lorber, Everett Harp, and Chuck Loeb, Jackiem Joyner, Selena Albright, Charlton Singleton, and Darrell Ravenell. Red Ribbon 5K & Walk
September 10, 2016
The Lowcountry Red Ribbon 5K & Walk is an joint fundraiser benefiting the Roper St. Francis Ryan White Wellness Center and Lowcountry AIDS Services. This annual event has grown since 2009 to become an official, timed 5K run – and the only HIV/AIDS walk in the Lowcountry. The Red Ribbon 5K & Walk continues to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS to eliminate the stigma and shame associated with the disease. This year, the Red Ribbon 5K & Walk will take place at Wannamaker Park followed by an after-party of food, music, fun and games. Click here for additional information.















Charleston Water SportsFest
September 12-18, 2016
A marketing initiative of the Charleston Area Sports Commission, Charleston Water SportsFest includes seven days of continous activities on the Lowcountry's greatest asset, water! CWSF includes businesses, organizations and individuals providing a number of “on the water” options for visitors ready for a get-away vacation. Competitive sports include Charleston's premier watersports event of the year, the 4th Annual Chucktown Showdown, a Stand-Up Paddleboarding Competition at Brittlebank Park. Specatators encouraged and free! Recreational sports include the 6th Annual Dragon Boat Cancer Survivors Celebration Day at Trophy Lakes on Johns Island. Instructional lessons are available for beginners to advanced. Individual or group lessons for over 10 types of watersports! 36th annual Taste of Charleston
September 23-25, 2016
This year will mark the 36th anniversary of the Lowcountry’s culinary event of the year, the Taste of Charleston, hosted by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, Inc (GCRA). A 2-day event showcasing taste-tempting delights served by Charleston restaurants. Historic Boone Hall Plantation is transformed into a sea of culinary enchantment for the main event! 40 of the Lowcountry’s favorite casual and fine dining restaurants serving sample size portions + beer and wine. New to the Main Event, with a partnership with the South Carolina Hospital Association, is the Cooking Well Village. There will be cooking demos, hospital chefs around the state competing and much more! Highlights of the Main Event include: specialty and imported beer tasting tent, live music on the main stage by Cowboy Mouth, the legendary “Waiters’ Race” and the “Kid’s Kitchen Sideshow.” Food and drink tickets are sold separately.
