2015 Palette & Palate Stroll
July 17, 2015 from 5:30 - 7:30PM
Stroll through the streets of the historic city, making stops at participating galleries, tasting creations from some of the best local chefs. The event sells out every year and brings a fashionable crowd of art and food enthusiasts out to the streets in the middle of summer when things slow down a bit. Participants need to purchase tickets ahead of time. Tickets are not refundable. On the evening of the event, they can check in at any of the participating galleries and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the historic French Quarter, walking from gallery to gallery. Part of the Memorial Waterfront Park complex, the 1250-foot long Mount Pleasant Pier stretches out into Charleston Harbor under the foot of the Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge. Along with beautiful views, the pier offers great fishing! The Folly Beach Pier is one of the best destinations in the Lowcountry for pier fishing. The five-race Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series at James Island County Park features a 600-yard freshwater swim, 12-mile bike ride, and 5K flat run. Over 30,000 people have raced the series over the years, and the series has been honored as one of the Top Ten Charleston Signature Sport Events by the Charleston Metro Sports Council. Fresh off the biggest year of his storied career, “Weird Al” Yankovic announced his 2015 Mandatory World Tour will stop at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center on August 9.Slated to visit over 100 cities throughout North America, Europe, and Australia, the tour follows the release of Weird Al’s #1 album, Mandatory Fun (RCA Records). The album was released on July 15, 2014 and immediately shot to #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart. Betty Wright & The Whispers

Celebrating well over 50 years in music, acclaimed R&B acts Betty Wright and The Whispers will appear Saturday, August 29 at 8:00 p.m. at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center! The Whispers are members of both the Vocal Group Hall of Fame (inducted in 2003) and the Soul Music Hall of Fame. Classic songs “And the Beat Goes On” and “Rock Steady” reached the top of the R&B charts, and The Whispers’ extensive catalog includes 13 hits that soared to the top 10 on the R&B list. Betty Wright extensive catalog includes a Grammy Award for “Where is the Love” multiple hits that has soared to the top 10 on the R&B list such as “Clean Up Woman”, “Tonight is the Night,” “No Pain, No Gain” and “Secretary”. Kiawah Island Triathlon
September 20, 2015
Tri-Kiawah is a USAT sanctioned (#213334) intermediate distance competition featuring a .7-mile swim, 25.1-mile bike and 6.1-mile run. This race is currently the only intermediate distance triathlon in the Charleston area to feature an ocean swim. The competition kicks off with the .7-mile point-to-point swim in the vast, beautiful and calm Atlantic waters off Kiawah’s stunning coastline. The bike and run portions of the race take athletes along the scenic marshland, maritime forest and beachfront, allowing participants to capture the unique essence of Kiawah Island. Transition area will take place in Night Heron Park, a 21-acre spectator and family friendly park at the heart of Kiawah Island. Click here to register.

35th Annual Taste of Charleston

This year will mark the 35th anniversary of the Lowcountry’s culinary event of the year, The Southern Living Taste of Charleston, hosted by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, Inc (GCRA). A 3-day event showcasing taste-tempting delights served by Charleston restaurants. For the main event, historic Boone Hall Plantation is transformed into a sea of culinary enchantment! 50 of the Lowcountry’s favorite casual and fine dining restaurants serving sample size portions + beer and wine.
